The G20 Leaders’ Summit will be held in India for the first time in 2023 when India takes over the G20 Presidency from Indonesia on December 1st. G20 summit 2023 schedule
New Delhi Summit: The 18th meeting of the G20 Heads of State and Government will be held in New Delhi on September 9 and 10, 2023. The Summit will be the culmination of all G20 procedures and gatherings of ministers, senior officials, and representatives of civil organizations that took place during the year. After the New Delhi Summit, a G20 Leaders’ Statement will be adopted, reaffirming the commitment of the Leaders to the priorities discussed and chosen during the relevant ministerial and working group meetings.
During its G20 presidency, which will start on December 1 and continue till November 30, 2023, India will host more than 200 meetings related to the gathering all over the country. Bangladesh, Egypt, Mauritius, the Netherlands, Nigeria, Oman, Singapore, Spain, and the UAE will be the “guest countries” at the G20 Leaders’ Summit in 2023, which will take place in New Delhi on September 9 and 10. The announcement was made on September 13 by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MEA).
India is now a member of the G20 Troika, which also includes Indonesia, Italy, and the outgoing G20 Presidency. The troika would consist of Brazil, Indonesia, and India during our presidency. Three developing nations and emerging economies would make up the troika for the first time, giving them a stronger voice, according to an official statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The announcement stated that the summit’s priorities are “firming up” and that all of the member nations will debate topics such as “women’s empowerment, digital public infrastructure, health, agriculture, education, culture, tourism, climate financing, circular economy, global food security, energy security, green hydrogen, catastrophe risk reduction, and resilience, fight against economic crime, and multilateral reforms” as well as themes linked to circle economy, climate finance, global food security, energy security, green hydrogen.
The current Ukrainian issue, which has soured relations between Russia and the industrialized Western nations—the majority of which are G20 members and account for 85% of the world’s GDP and 75% of its trade—will offer a significant challenge for the G20 meeting in India. Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, the United Kingdom, the United States of America, and the European Union (EU) are all members of the G20.
The G20 Summit’s Main Ideas
The G20 is made up of the majority of the industrialized and developing nations with the most powerful economies. They make up two-thirds of the world’s population, 80% of the GWP, 75% of global trade, and 60% of the planet’s surface area together.
In response to many economic issues on a worldwide scale, the G20 was founded in 1999.
Since 2008, it has assembled at least once annually, with summits attended by the leaders of each state or government, as well as the finance and foreign ministers and other top officials. The European Union is represented by the European Commission and the European Central Bank. The summits welcome participation from other countries, international organizations, and nonprofit groups, some of which are invited. During its summit in 2009, the G20 declared itself to be the main venue for international economic and financial cooperation.

Who will be in charge of planning the G20 Summit in 2023 (India)?
There will be 250 sessions hosted across the country, 190 of which will be attended by the ministers in charge of the G20 nations’ nodal ministries for areas like health, finance, agriculture, energy, and trade, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MEA). It’s expected that 100,000 individuals will show up each year.
India will hold more than 200 events in 50 cities in 2023 that will include representatives from the government and civil society and will culminate in a significant summit in New Delhi during the G20 Summit in September. Thirty heads of state and government from G20 nations and other invited nations are expected to attend the conference.
